As I try to find a reason to start working on my symphony again, I find a quote from Mahler, having to do with such an art:

Hmm, I don’t know that I agree with this quote. Sorry Mahler. I think that everything should be taken in moderation, including “things” included in symphonys. It’s fine to include like, ten different melodies throughout an entire symphony. And to throw in all the good theory crap we learn, the cadential six four, etc. But ….idk. to just include EVERYTHING? What excatly is everything, Mahler? Just seems like everything might be a bit too much. People can only generally focus on one thing at a time, so what is the point to having all these seperate insane, even though brilliant, ‘things’ going on, when the majority of people will never take the time to understand it and will still only pay attention to one thing? eeehhhhh, ….eh, …..eh. no.
